Pew Sitters Disqualified

There is nothing inherently wrong with sitting in a church pew on Sunday morning.  If you are listening to a man or woman of God operate in a five-fold ministry gift and that ministry is helping you mature, become doctrinally stable, and equipping you to do the work of the ministry in a spirit of unity.  There is something wrong if you leave that service and go home to sit on your hands and thus become a round the clock pew sitter.

Jesus declared in Luke 4:18 (NKJ) "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;”

As disciples of Jesus Christ, our desire should be to follow the pattern Jesus set for us. To have the mind of Christ would be to see, think, and be motivated to do as Jesus did.  The message of the preacher on Sunday morning should be preparing you to apply your gifts, talents, knowledge, experience, time, and finances to the available opportunities around you to meet needs in the lives of others.  The truth is that the spirit that was upon Jesus to meet needs is in you as a disciple of Jesus Christ and your mission is the same for you today as it was for Jesus 2,000 years ago.

Are you involved in the lives of anyone in need today?  Who is there who does not know what you know and does not have what you have that you are pouring your life into right now.  Have you gotten close enough to someone to see their need.  Were you tenderhearted and loving enough to be moved with compassion - beyond tears to the place where you were compelled to do something for them.  The great commission to make disciples will not be fulfilled by sitting in a pew as an award winning listener but it will be fulfilled by getting out in the everyday world where real people struggle with real needs.  The anointing was on Christ to minister to people in a way that brought healing.  Do you want to walk in the anointing?  I contend today that the anointing is out there in the real world where you find broken people.  The anointing is waiting on you to show up and make a draw on it.  Pew sitters are disqualified from walking in the anointing.  Its a simple case of wrong place wrong time.
